HONG KONG/SHANGHAI (Reuters)-hundreds of bankrupt furniture factory workers held a mass rally on Thursday, faced off with riot police in the latest flare-up of industrial unrest.
Workers in the furniture factory in Anji bamboo and timber in Eastern Zhejiang province took to the streets to demand back wages after the plant went bankrupt, Hong Kong's Ming Pao Daily said on Friday.
Microblogging site shows a large number of Chinese riot police around workers at the scene and said some workers have been posting was beaten.
The rash is very regular and powerful attacks have hit factories a number of global brands including PepsiCo Inc., the company's Japan citizen Holdings Co Ltd and Yue Yuen industrial giant shoemaking (Holdings) Ltd.
While the reason for the attack have varied from factory to factory, workers frequently complain that jobs and wages under pressure as producers and exporters looking to cut costs in response to slowing down the West, especially from Europe's debt-laden.
